Did you take advantage of the nice weather this Sunday? Don did, by hitting 8700 RPM in Dana’s mean Honda S2000. Standing next to this thing, it was easy to tell Dana had put some lowering springs on it, as if it needed any more of an advantage in the already awesome handling. “RESPONSIVE”, is all that Don had to say. There is only one way to really understand the noise this thing puts out, and that was put on full display as Don drove past me at the top of 3rd. The dual exhaust SCREAMS!

Buying a car should be fun, but instead it can be a frustrating and stressful experience. Who hasn’t been helped by car salesmen or women who know nothing about the cars they are selling, pressured from multiple managers who try to add countless additional (and worthless) costly packages once you sit down to purchase a car, and pricing on cars that is so flexible the salesmen don’t honor advertised pricing unless you mention it. Dealerships need a major revamping.
For starters, salesmen should be salaried and tested to make sure they know everything about the car they are selling. Wouldn’t that be refreshing? A salesmen that could actually inform you about the car you are thinking of purchasing.
If when you sit down to purchase the car, you could do just that…purchase the car for the agreed upon price without being harassed to add on more ridiculous costly services to increase the final cost of the car. Packages for rustproofing, scotchguarding, clearcoating and over-priced extended warranties (which can be purchased later for a fraction of the cost the dealer is asking) are promoted as necessary for improving your car. Makes you wonder whether the car you are trying to buy is actually worth it.
And lastly, if a dealership advertises a vehicle for a sale price in the newspaper or online, they should be honorable enough to give that price to each and every customer who walks through the door. They don’t! So always check online for deals they are offering and print it out before walking into any dealership.
Car manufacturers should demand that dealerships represent and sell their vehicles in an accurate and professional arena. They would sell more cars and certainly would create a better car purchasing experience for their loyal customers.

Arthur Kuznetsov is a DePaul student who in his short part-time career has managed to work for a number of reputable car dealerships, occupying positions that began in service and continued on to sales. Fortunately, he found time in his busy schedule, which is dominated by classes and work arrangements, to sit down with me and answer a few question that most directly affect the consumers in the auto industry – the interaction with the car dealerships.
How did you end up working at a car dealership? Was it your first experience working with cars?
It was definitely not my first time working with cars or at the dealership. I started out working valet for multiple restaurants and then went over to work at MB Autohaus on Edens where I detailed cars. After that I transferred over to Luxury Motors and shortly after to MB of C where I got the chance to sell cars.
Some say that car sales is a dog-eat-dog world, do you agree? Why?
Yes and no. Yes because you are all on commission and if you want to make some money you better pray to god you are the first guy to get the phone or greet the customer who walked in to the showroom. No, because the management would throw you a bone in the end of the month or if you help another salesman close a deal you will get to split the sale.
What is the most interesting experience you have had while working as a salesman?
Interesting experience? I guess the fact that you get to meet people and drive high end cars especially when you work for dealers like MB of C.
It is said that a car salesman will do anything to close a deal. What is the farthest you have ever gone?
Drove a car to a customer’s house so that they can test drive it. I actually haven’t seen those desperate sales attempts in the work place that you see in the movies.
In today’s market, the cars are divided into three camps – Europe, America and Asia. Cars from which region interest you the most?
Europe, I can narrow it down to Germany specifically. You really have to drive a lot of cars and take your time with them to appreciate the difference. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of nice Asian and American cars, but they just don’t drive or look like German cars do.
While on the subject, what is your take on the recent Toyota recall woes?
Personally, I think it was bound to happen because they just flooded the car market in the past decade. Such a high production usually ends up with a few flaws. I think it’s a good time for American cars to get some ground back in their [home] market.
Are there any inside tips you can spare for the future car buyers?
Use the internet before you go shopping. Everything is available from MSRPs, leases, reviews, current promotions. You can even find the invoice on the cars.
Online or dealership, which is the best way to shop in your opinion?
You can get a lot of info online which will inform you, but you still have to drive the car and inspect it visually. Online pictures don’t show everything about the car and thats why you actually should go to the dealership and look at the car.
Are there any particularly good perks that come with working at a reputable car dealership?
The biggest perk is you get to drive some very nice cars. The second perk is you make a nice paycheck that at least looks big to a college student. The third is you get to meet some celebrities once in a while who are there just kicking tires. Finally, there is no manager to constantly bust your chops, but only if you screw up of course.
Finally, is being a car salesman a positive experience overall? Or does it succumb to the dogma of every job having its ups and downs?
Overall it was a positive experience. I didn’t like the long hours since I also attended school full time. For those who are car fanatics, they will enjoy it. Those who need to make money will probably not. Your work shows off on your paycheck and the best part is that no one tells you what to do as long as you do the monthly quota of 8 to 10 cars.
Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s largest utility vehicle and tractor maker, hopes to announce in 2-3 weeks a timeframe for the launch of its pick-up trucks in the US.

I was asked this week on several occasions about building my buyers & sellers list, web-sites, autoresponders and direct mail so I’ll give you a few quick words on these topics.
Lists - I’ve used many methods but squeeze pages work the best and I came across a guide that shows you how to do it, Squeeze Pages For Beginners.
Web-sites – I have learned to do a little HTML editing on my own but I host my sites at HostGator. They have the best service. I’ve never had an issue with my site being down.
Autoresponders – There are a few out there like Constant Contact, I Contact and Get Response. My personal favorite and the one I use is Aweber. They have a GREAT track record of delivering your messages. Using this save you tons of time and it helps keep you and your contacts connected.
Direct Mail – I’m not a big fan of sending a lot of mail. I’ll do postcards for certain things but I’m VERY SPECIFIC when I’ll use them. One of the best ways to conduct mailings is to go to the United States Postal Services web-site and upload your mail piece onto their site. You can construct what you want to send, how many, to what neighborhoods or zips codes. When used right it can work well but many investors have failed to use it correctly.

Ford Mustang is a staple of all-American engineering. The slightly redesigned 2010 models have carried over the previous generations’ engine choices, while the next years line up has two options that have the enthusiasts salivating. First and foremost is the return of the 5.0 V8 engine in the GT model of the venerable Mustang. As a matter of fact, the resurgence of the large displacement powerplant has almost overshadowed a much more interesting offering in the base pony model.
The previous generation basic Mustangs have been sporting a 4.0 liter V6 powerplant that was underwhelming, to say the least. I personally experienced the difference between the base and the GT models when I was on my summer vacation in Miami, FL. I cheaped out and rented a base hot red Mustang, while my cousin, having uncharacteristically deeper pockets than me, went for the black convertible GT model. Needless to say, his rental was infinitely superior to the one I had, minus the color of course – hot red was, well…hot.
Enter the new engine choice for the base model – the 3.7L V6. Using linear logic one may ask “But it has a smaller displacement, how can it possibly have 100 more HP and get about 10 more MPGs?” My answer – magic. The magic of technology. It is a brand new redesigned all aluminum block that is not only 40 lbs ligher but also undeniably more efficient. Interestingly, it does not feature direct-injection, a feature that would increase performance and economy even further. I guess Ford and their wizard are playing it smart, leaving room for improvement for a reason – so that there would be more money to be made down the road.
i was just reading a piece over at Conservative Patriot’s blog about Obama’s successes and failures in this last year and i got to thinking once again of his accomplishments.
Skyrocketing unemployment, plummeting dollar, takeovers of the auto and banking industries… i won’t bore you to tears with the list.
Actually it’s becoming so overwhelming that to go through what this man and his cronies have done in this last year is almost beyond belief.

With a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14 and an overall disapproval rating of 53%, is it any wonder that candidates who espouse Conservatism are sweeping the elections?

I remember people openly blaming the Clintons for the Republican takeover of Congress in ‘94… there was talk of how the Clintons were the ruination of the Democrat party.

They act as though the last election was not just the American people voting them in, but rather a mandate to ‘remake the fabric of American society’. The Constitution be damned! Who really knows what’s in it anyway? Who cares?
And now… they are willing, no, make that fully engaged in the destruction of the Democrat Party in order to revamp America and turn it into a Socialist society.

You’ve heard me talk about the importance of having a car inspected by a mechanic as a condition of purchase, and how dealers are allowed to sell you a car ”as is” without disclosing the vehicle’s history??? Well… we’re way past that now!! Crooks are now going online and infesting some popular car-selling Websites with bogus car offers.
Criminals are re-posting legitimate vehicle offers from sites like Autotrader.com or eBay motors, complete with actual photos and VIN information. If they can’t get the VIN from the original posting, they will contact the seller directly. They will duplicate the exact vehicle and list it as being for sale!
In the case Douglas sent me, a criminal lifted an existing sale and said in the posting, “thank you for your interest in my car it’s a 7 passenger van. I have to sell it really quickly because I’m serving in the U.S. military in Great Britain. I need to sell it including shipping for $3900”. And that is a common trend in these phony ads.
When you are looking at a car listed online, you need to follow the advice Craigslist puts right on its Website: deal only with people who are local, that you can see face to face. You want to actually see the car. In the old days in fighting they used to say ”wait until you see the whites of their eyes.” Well, when it comes to buying a car, you want to wait until you can see the headlights. You’ve got to be so very careful when buying a car. The risk right now is off the charts.
If you want to do your own oil changes, it can save you money and make you feel empowered, make sure you understand how to properly dispose of your dirty motor oil. Used motor oil is considered to be a TOXIC waste because one drop contaminates a million drops of water! Just think about that next time you drip oil onto the ground! Koenigsegg unleashed their latest jewel – the Koenigsegg Agera. A new supercar aimed to take the Koenigsegg experience to the next level, both on the road and the track.
Inside the carbon fiber and aluminum honeycomb chassis lies the same 4.7-liter V8 as the CCX, but output has increased to 910 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, allowing the 2,832-pound Agera to hit 62 mph in 3.1 seconds and top out at over 242 mph.
Koenigsegg only plans to produce 16-20 Ageras each year and orders will begin next week with deliveries starting later in 2010.

EV’s main objective is to be eco-friendly and affordable, but since the economy is in the tank, the price tag is out of reach for the majority of the public. Ada dua bentuk knalpot racing yang umumnya mudah dibedakan oleh pengendara. Bentuk panjang dan bentuk pendek. Pada knalpot racing bentuk panjang, aliran gas buang lama mencapai ujung knalpot sehingga tekanannya melemah ketika keluar. Sedangkan knalpot racing bentuk pendek, di mana tekanan gas buang masih cukup kuat, gas buang sudah mencapai ujung knalpot.
Hal yang Harus Dilakukan Setelah Mengganti Knalpot
Ada langkah-langkah tertentu yang harus dilakukan paska penggantian knalpot, antara lain:
Lakukan penyetelan setelan udara setelah penggantian knalpot.
Lakukan test ride beberapa km dengan kondisi riding seperti biasa ( layaknya membawa motor secara harian, tidak perlu terlalu kencang, tidak usah telalu pelan ).
Matikan mesin beberapa meter sebelum motor berhenti ( posisi gigi di-netralkan dulu ) untuk memperlihatkan kondisi mesin ( via busi ) sesungguhnya.
Buka busi. Awas, hati-hati. Membuka busi sesaat setelah mesin dijalankan beresiko membuat ulir drat tempat busi menjadi selek.
Perhatikan kondisi dan warna busi. Jika busi berwarna putih bersih, berarti setelan udara tidak mampu ‘menahan’ dahaga mesin akan bahan bakar. Harus ganti spuyer ! Jika busi berwarna putih kecoklatan / merah bata, berarti setelan sudah tepat. Jika busi berwarna hitam, atur ulang setelan udara.
Perawatan mesin paska penggantian knalpot yang utama adalah, membuat mesin tidak kehausan bahan baker. Mesin yang telalu ‘kering’ beresiko membuat mesin cepat jebol. Setelah setelan ideal didapatkan, perawatan yang lain berjalan seperti biasa.
Pergantian oli secara teratur, sangat dianjurkan. Jika perlu interval-nya dipercepat, misalkan biasanya ganti oli setiap 2000 km, boleh ganti setiap 1500 km. Untuk penggunaan merek oli sendiri, kebebasa para pengendara.
Setelah knalpot terpasang dan setelan didapatkan, bersihkan filter udara sekalian agar hasilnya lebih greng. Bensin tidak perlu diganti ke oktan yang lebih tinggi. Biasa minum premium, premium saja.

If you’re in a hurry, then going faster than 60 mph (95 km/h), presents new problems. Getting above this speed, your transmission is starting to run out of gears, so the engine has to keep turning faster and faster without getting any mechanical advantage from the transmission — that burns a lot of extra fuel. This also hurts your ability to overcome the exponentially increasing resistance — your engine can only turn so fast. But, if you’re in a small car then your fuel economy at 70 mph is likely still better than a large SUV traveling 60 mph.
If your car has a fuel economy display, be sure to take notice at many different speeds to find the best speed for your car. If your car does not have a fuel economy display and you do a lot of driving then it might be worth getting a device that will read your vehicle data and calculate fuel economy accurately. Stuttgart. Following the successful start of the Panamera into the market, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is rapidly expanding the range of models available: Starting in May 2010, both the Panamera and the Panamera 4 will be at the dealership as the new entry-level versions leading into Porsche’s Gran Turismo model series.
Both models are powered by a brand-new 3.6-litre V6 featuring Direct Fuel Injection and developing maximum output of 300 bhp (220 kW) plus peak torque of 400 Nm/295 lb-ft. ATLANTA – February 16, 2010 – Porsche Cars North America today announced the addition of two new Panamera models, just three months after successfully launching the first four-door Gran Turismo in three V8 flavors: the Panamera S, the Panamera 4S and the Panamera Turbo.
The Panamera and Panamera 4, the model line’s new entry level versions, will be in Porsche dealerships in June 2010. Both feature a brand-new 3.6-liter V6 with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) developing 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Panamera transmits its power to the road via the rear wheels, while the Panamera 4 comes standard with active all-wheel drive. U.S. models will include Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), Porsche’s new and revolutionary seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, as standard equipment.
The Panamera and Panamera 4 are examples of the Porsche Intelligent Performance development strategy. Only 125 Prius owners reported a braking problem with their cars to the National Transportation Safety Board out of 239,000 Prius 2010 models sold in the world. The solution to the recall was a simple reflash of one of the car’s computers. This problem affected only a small percentage of the overall cars sold. The media has played this up. Press Pass announced today of a production error that has occurred with the Semester Signature Onyx autographed cards of Joe Montana that can be found in ‘09 Fusion. It appears that four of the five cards are each numbered “2/5″. China is currently the world’s biggest auto market. Sales exceeded 1.3 million in November.(Associated Press)
Chinese consumers bought 1.32 million cars in January, solidifying the country’s status as the world’s largest auto market.
Spurred by tax cuts and other government stimulus measures, the January figure was 18 per cent more than December’s 1.1 million vehicles sold. It was also up 116 per cent from the same month of 2009, when China first overtook the U.S. in vehicle sales.
Total vehicle sales, including larger vehicles, more than doubled from 735,000 last year to 1.66 million units, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said.
U.S. auto sales rose a modest six per cent in January, but that was up from a 26-year low of 656,976 a year before.
For the year as a whole, total Chinese vehicle sales were up 45 per cent to an estimated 13.6 million in 2009, overtaking the American market as sales there languished. The auto group expects 15 million passenger vehicle sales this year.
Trade-ins encouraged
Beijing ignited sales last year with a series of policies aimed at encouraging car owners to trade in older vehicles, in many case three-wheel trucks, for more fuel-efficient small cars.
The huge year-on-year jump in January sales also reflected relatively weak sales and production a year earlier, when China’s economy had slowed because of the global financial crisis.
January sales may have been buoyed by a rush to buy cars ahead of the Feb. 14 Lunar New Year, the country’s biggest holiday, so analysts say sales could fall off now that the holiday is past.
“We need to keep an eye on the data for February and March,” said Wei Chenggang, an analyst at Shanghai Securities in Shanghai. “Given expectations that inflation may rise, people may spend less.”
“January does not tell us what the whole year will be like, since the broader economy faces various uncertainties,” the association said in a statement.
Is this a witch-hunt, a political squabble, or a media frenzy, to ruin Toyota image. Fist let us, not compromise safety for a few dollars or bragging right.
Issue #1 Toyota accelerator problem, #2 Brake failures #3 Steering concern, all are electronic control components. As technology grows every manufacturer is plying the same route but you never know which one will have their share of problems or when.
The fact is every manufacturer have their share of problems however, some are concealed. Perhaps you would like to see the real proof, ok just look at their TSB’s and you will scratch your head in disbelief and then understand that based on the number of complaint any of those can later become a recall.
To take it a step further, investigate all their data and recall records on safety and compare it with current issues in the auto industry and you will see that it is astounding.
Over the years I have worked with engineers fixing complex issues on vehicles both mechanical and electronic most are found and fix within a reasonable time, some take a while longer, but eventually get fixed. The hardest ones to fix are the intermittent problems, they sometimes takes a while to regenerate.
A flight data recorder is necessary to capture the event as it happens and then share this information with the public, this could be the only way for Toyota to stay righted or correct image control, otherwise tomorrow it could be number 4, 5, 6, 7 and more for Toyota as the hunt continues.
Just for thoughts, if you build a product and have less than 1% failure, do you stop making the product all together, or address quality control. However, the real question is, is the product any good.

How it will save you money:
Under inflated tires can reduce fuel efficiency by 15% and will increase wear of your tires. Keeping your tires properly inflated will ensure you save money on gas and reduce your tire purchases!
This is an easy tip to use, just follow the steps below:
1. Buy a pressure gauge. (Most of these only cost about $1 and look like a pen, and you can keep it in your car.)
2. Identify your recommended tire pressure.
(This will be written on the side of your tire, don’t be afraid to look and get your hands dirty, it will probably written with a PSI unit of measurement.)
3. Take off your tire valve cap.
(This should screw off with just your hand and don’t worry, no air will escape with your car sitting still.)
4. Check your tire pressure on each tire with a pressure gauge.
(place your pressure gauge on top of the valve and press down, it should make a little bit of hissing noise and the pin inside the pressure gauge will poke out allowing you to read your pressure.)
5. Fill tires with air if they are not at the recommended pressure level.
(Go to your local gas station for FREE air, just take the hose and press the end onto the tire valve where you checked the pressure, this will also make a hissing noise, just fill for a few seconds, then check your pressure again, repeat until your tire is inflated to the recommended pressure.)
6. Make sure you screw your tire valve caps back on!
7. Measure your tire pressure once a month.
(You can do this at your local gas station, at home, or anywhere you have a tire pressure gauge handy.)
